A pharmacy sales rep in Ohio has been charged with two counts of distribution of fraudulent prescription drugs.
The Ohio Department of Public Health and Environment (DPHWE) on Wednesday announced that 29-year-old Christopher Smith has been suspended without pay.
Smith was arrested in September.
According to the state agency, the two counts involve distribution of counterfeit drugs that were purchased online from online pharmacies and sold at the Ohio State Fair.
The agency also charged Smith with failing to file a tax return.
The charges stem from an investigation into the distribution of prescription drugs that appeared on the websites of the online pharmacies.
The pharmacy sales reps were placed on administrative leave pending an investigation.
According a statement released by the DPHWE, the department is continuing to investigate this matter.
